Koh Chang Emerges as Thailand’s Fastest-Growing Destination in Agoda ‘New Horizons’ Report

Koh Chang has been named Thailand’s fastest-growing destination for international visitors, according to the latest “New Horizons” report by digital travel platform Agoda. The annual ranking tracks year-on-year growth in accommodation bookings and highlights a clear shift in traveller preferences toward destinations offering authenticity, easy access, and meaningful experiences rather than traditional tourist hotspots.

Koh Chang rose five places to rank 12th among inbound destinations for 2025. As Thailand’s second-largest island, its appeal lies in its convenient access from Bangkok, allowing travellers to enjoy rainforests, coral reefs, and waterfalls without taking a domestic flight to southern resort hubs. The trend reflects growing interest in so-called “second islands” that combine natural depth with simplicity of travel.

The report also notes that Koh Pha-ngan and Koh Tao have entered Asia’s top 100 destinations for the first time, pointing to a broader demand for destinations that balance lively beach culture with peaceful retreats.

On the domestic side, Nonthaburi has become the top trending destination for Thai travellers, climbing ten spots to 36th place. Located just north of Bangkok, the province is gaining popularity for its Mon heritage, historic riverside communities, and cultural attractions such as Koh Kret, known for traditional pottery and weekend markets.
