Energy and Interior Ministries Offer New Year Gifts 2026 for People

The Ministry of Energy and the Ministry of Interior have offered New Year gifts 2026 for the people, aimed at reducing living costs for the public, increasing their income, and bringing them happiness.

According to the Ministry of Energy, benzine, diesel, and gasohol retail prices have been reduced by 0.50 baht per liter starting from 24 December 2025. The electricity rate will be cut from 3.94 baht to 3.88 baht per unit for January through April 2026. The liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) price will be maintained at 423 baht per 15-kilogram cylinder from 1 January to 31 March 2026.

As for the Ministry of Interior, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charvirakul gave his guidelines for various agencies under the ministry to offer the New Year gifts, focusing on (1) building happiness, (2) relieving suffering, and (3) good well-being.

For instance, the Community Development Department offers a maximum 25 percent discount for OTOP products purchased through digital platforms. People will be provided with greater access to community financial sources for business operations and the tackling of non-conventional debts.

The Department of Local Administration has joined hands with local administrative organizations in offering interest rate cuts at pawnshops under the supervision of the department to boost liquidity for low-income earners. The Metropolitan Waterworks Authority has installed 173 drinking water dispensers in Bangkok, Samut Prakan, and Nonthaburi for free public services, while the Provincial Waterworks Authority has also provided free drinking water of good quality at more than 300 mini stations and water dispensers nationwide.

Previously, the Ministry of Transport announced its package of "New Year Gifts 2026" for the public, under the concept of “H.N.Y. 2026 – Happiness of All, Network of Care, Year of Safety.” The package includes free tolls, extended rail hours, and fare reduction across six domestic airlines, among others.
