The Department of International Trade Promotion (DITP), under the Ministry of Commerce, has partnered with four provincial commerce offices in southern Thailand—Surat Thani, Songkhla, Trang, and Satun—to support and rehabilitate entrepreneurs affected by recent flooding and to help them expand into global markets through online channels.
The initiative aims to strengthen the capacity of local entrepreneurs, particularly small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), by equipping them with digital trade skills and providing consultation on international trade. The program focuses on teaching entrepreneurs how to use online platforms to sell products worldwide and offering guidance for those who wish to start exporting or expand into overseas markets.
The first activity has already been held, featuring training on international trade and online marketing along with hands-on workshops. These included registration and use of Thaitrade.com, preparation for trade negotiations, product photography techniques, and writing attractive product descriptions to enhance presentation and increase opportunities to connect with foreign buyers. The program targeted SMEs in Surat Thani and nearby provinces.
In February, a TOPTHAI event will be organized in Hat Yai, Songkhla. The event will introduce online business models on global platforms, promote business networking with internationally recognized e-commerce platforms, and organize business-matching activities under the theme “Cross-Border e-Commerce: TOPTHAI – Selling to the World.”
In March, DITP will organize Mobile Unit activities under the “1169 DITP Service Center” in Trang and Satun. These will provide international trade information and one-on-one in-depth consultation for entrepreneurs who want to begin exporting or expand into foreign markets. Services will also include guidance on accessing trade information, joining DITP activities, and becoming official members of the department.
DITP encourages entrepreneurs in Surat Thani, Songkhla, Trang, Satun, and nearby provinces with export potential in goods and services to join these activities. The program aims to create new opportunities for selling products online to the global market and to strengthen the long-term competitiveness of Thai businesses.
Interested participants can contact the DITP hotline at 1169 or their provincial commerce offices for more information and registration.
