Department of Tourism Holds Nationwide Roadshow to Prepare Thai Tourism Businesses for Global Standards

The Department of Tourism, Ministry of Tourism and Sports, is advancing Thailand’s tourism industry toward global sustainability standards through the “Thailand Green Tourism Plan 2030” under the theme “Road to Global Sustainable Standards.” The Department has launched a nationwide Roadshow across four regions — Nakhon Si Thammarat, Nakhon Ratchasima, Phetchaburi, and Chiang Mai — to prepare small accommodation operators, tour businesses, attractions, and local communities for certification under the Thailand Good Travel standard and participation in the Top 100 Green Destinations global competition. The program includes workshops, coaching sessions, and training to strengthen participants’ understanding of international sustainability criteria.

As part of this initiative, the Department has developed the “Thailand Green Coach” program to create a network of trained experts who mentor tourism businesses and communities toward certification readiness. The Roadshow provides a platform for collaboration among entrepreneurs, tourism experts, and stakeholders to enhance knowledge, share experiences, and build capacity for sustainable tourism management in line with global standards.

The event features lectures on the Thailand Good Travel certification as a “passport” to global markets, expert coaching, and workshops introducing the Standard & Coaching System — a centralized platform for sustainability data reporting and evaluation. The Roadshow has received strong participation nationwide, reflecting Thai tourism operators’growing commitment and readiness to achieve global sustainability benchmarks, positioning Thailand as a leading sustainable tourism destination in the international arena.
