Commerce Ministry Registers Ranong and Doi Musoe Coffee as GI Products to Enhance Thai Local Product Value

The Ministry of Commerce has registered Ranong Coffee and Doi Musoe Coffee as Geographical Indications (GI) to elevate the value of Thai local products.

  • Ranong coffee is a premium Robusta variety, grown in soil rich in minerals and nurtured by abundant rainfall and humidity, giving it a strong and balanced flavor. As the largest robusta coffee-producing area in the Andaman region, Ranong generates an annual income exceeding 375 million baht.
  • Doi Mae Salong coffee is a blend of Arabica and Robusta beans cultivated at altitudes of 800 meters or more on Doi Mae Salong Mountain in Tak Province, Renowned for its fruity and nutty aroma and distinctive flavor, this specialty coffee generates over 257 million baht annually for the local community.

Thailand currently has 10 GI-registered coffee varieties, contributing over 1.3 billion baht in value. 

Coffee enthusiasts can experience these varieties at the Thailand Coffee Fest 2024 from December 12-15, 2024, at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center.
