Chulalongkorn University, in collaboration with the Embassy of India in Thailand, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to enhance Hindi language teaching in Thailand, establishing the ICCR Chair of Hindi to promote and support Hindi instruction at Chulalongkorn’s Faculty of Arts.
On October 15, 2024, Chulalongkorn University’s Institute of Asian Studies and Faculty of Arts held an MOU signing ceremony with the Indian Embassy in Thailand. The event was presided over by Mr. Nagesh Singh, the Indian Ambassador to Thailand, and Prof. Dr. Viroj Phurivat, President of Chulalongkorn University. This collaboration, supported by the Indian government, includes the appointment of the ICCR Chair of Hindi, an initiative that brings Indian instructors to teach Hindi at Chulalongkorn’s Faculty of Arts.
Prof. Dr. Viroj emphasized the importance of the "Pipit Bharati 2024" program, an initiative to train teachers and enhance knowledge of both traditional and modern Indian culture. The MOU signing aims to foster a deeper understanding of Indian culture through the Hindi language, marking a key step in promoting educational and cultural cooperation between the two countries.
This MOU signifies an important step in advancing Hindi language education in Thailand. The establishment of the ICCR Chair of Hindi will not only improve Hindi instruction but also deepen understanding of Indian culture, paving the way for future cooperation between Thailand and India.
