Thailand’s Board of Investment (BOI) has approved investment promotion for VR One World (Thailand) to stage Tomorrowland Thailand, marking the first time the world-famous electronic dance music (EDM) festival will be held in Asia. The inaugural event is scheduled for December 2026 at Wisdom Valley, Chonburi, running for three days with a capacity of up to 50,000 attendees per day. Organisers expect more than 60% of visitors to come from overseas, with the project projected to generate an economic impact of at least 21 billion baht over five years.
The project is a Thai–Belgian joint venture, combining international expertise from the Tomorrowland Group with Thailand’s experience in hosting large-scale EDM festivals. Beyond the festival itself, the initiative includes the Tomorrowland Academy, aimed at transferring global event-management standards and skills to Thai personnel, strengthening the country’s capabilities in tourism services and festival production.
BOI’s support reflects Thailand’s strategy to position itself as a regional hub for world-class events, boost high-value tourism, and stimulate related sectors such as hotels, restaurants, transport, and local services. Incentives include import-duty exemptions for event equipment and streamlined visa and work-permit facilitation for foreign artists and crews. The approval underscores Thailand’s ambition to elevate its global tourism image and attract major international events with long-term economic benefits.
