Bangkok tops Euromonitor global city rankings for international arrivals in 2025

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has welcomed the latest findings from Euromonitor International’s Top 100 City Destinations Index 2025, which ranks Bangkok as the world’s most visited city by international travellers this year, with 30.3 million arrivals, the highest figure globally.

Ms. Thapanee Kiatphaibool, (ฐาปนีย์ เกียรติไพบูลย์) Governor of TAT, said the achievement reflects the enduring strength of Thailand’s tourism ecosystem and Bangkok’s ability to deliver high-quality, meaningful visitor experiences. She noted that the recognition reinforces Thailand’s focus on value-driven tourism, longer stays and responsible travel, while ensuring Bangkok continues to evolve as a safe, vibrant and globally competitive destination.

The ranking places Bangkok ahead of other major global cities, underscoring its sustained appeal across leisure, culture, gastronomy and urban lifestyle experiences. Euromonitor International evaluates 100 cities worldwide using more than 50 indicators, covering tourism performance, policy and destination appeal, infrastructure, health and safety, sustainability, and economic and business activity.

According to Euromonitor’s analysis, leading urban destinations are increasingly prioritising value over volume, with strategies centred on sustainable growth and long-term resilience. Despite global economic uncertainty and intensifying competition among destinations, Bangkok has retained its top position, supported by strong fundamentals and consistent international demand.

Bangkok’s global appeal lies in its unique blend of tradition and modernity, where historic temples and riverside communities coexist with creative districts, contemporary architecture and world-class shopping. The city is internationally renowned for its street food and Michelin-recognised dining, extensive air connectivity and service readiness, earning numerous accolades from leading travel and lifestyle publications.

As Thailand’s main gateway, Bangkok continues to play a pivotal role in driving nationwide tourism and supporting balanced, sustainable growth. The city’s top ranking also aligns with TAT’s global communication strategy, “Unforgettable Experience: Healing is the New Luxury,” reinforcing Thailand’s strong position on the global tourism stage.
