The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) had partnered with the UNESCO Regional Office in Bangkok, and C Asean, to organize “International Jazz Day 2026: In the Key of Peace” concert on May 3, 2026, at Lumphini Hall, Lumphini Park. The concert celebrated the global significance of jazz as a medium for unity and cultural exchange, highlighting the city’s deep appreciation for the genre.
This annual celebration honors UNESCO’s 2011 declaration of April 30th as International Jazz Day, a day dedicated to utilizing music as a diplomatic tool to break down social barriers and promote harmony across diverse communities. The concert also featured a distinguished lineup, including the Horwang School Big Band, the Bangkok Big Band, and renowned performers Koh Mr. Saxman and Sax Pack Girl, who collectively brought the theme of peace to life through their music.
High-level officials were in attendance to show their support, including Ms. Soohyun Kim, Director of the UNESCO Regional Office in Bangkok; Mr. Pisanu Suvanajata, Vice Chairman of C Asean; and Mr. Sanon Wangsrangboon, Deputy Governor of Bangkok, alongside representatives from ten embassies. The gathering served as a powerful reminder of Bangkok’s role in the global cultural landscape, proving that jazz remains a vital force for bringing people together in the spirit of peace and mutual understanding.
