The Royal Thai Army, in collaboration with various partners, has organized the “Amazing Muay Thai Festival 2024” from 4 to 6 February 2024 at Rachabhakti Park, in Hua Hin district, Prachuap Khiri Khan province. The event aims to promote sports tourism with Muay Thai and give it even greater recognition worldwide, thus making Thailand become the world’s Muay Thai destination.
Highlighted activities during the three-day event are as follows:
- “THAI FIGHT” Muay Thai competition;
- Wai Kru ceremony, which is a ritual performed by fighters before the fight;
- Veneration ceremony to pay respect to Thai kings in the past, including King Sanphet VIII, known as the father of Muay Thai, who promoted Muay Thai during his reign in the Ayutthaya Kingdom in the early 18th century.
Muay Thai, also known as Thai boxing, is a unique Thai martial art form that combines grace and flowing moves and utilizes hands, elbows, knees, and shins as weapons.
