AI Drug Interaction Center: A New Platform for Hospitals Safeguarding Patients from Harmful Drug Combinations

The AI Drug Interaction Center is a newly developed platform designed to alert healthcare providers to potential drug interactions in patients who require multiple medications. By integrating data from all levels of healthcare facilities into each patient’s personal health record, this system helps reduce the risk of adverse reactions and drug allergies. The platform can analyze individual patient data—including age, pregnancy status, and lab results—to provide precise medication recommendations, sending real-time feedback to physicians to support their clinical decisions.

Currently, the platform is being piloted in 25 hospitals nationwide, with plans underway for a broader rollout. Continuous monitoring is in place to track reports of adverse drug reactions and evaluate the system’s effectiveness.

In addition, authorities are preparing for the rainy season’s disease outbreaks, developing the MOPH REFER system to streamline patient transfers across more than 900 affiliated hospitals, and expanding to primary care settings. The IMAGING HUB system is also being implemented to ease the transfer of radiology images. Further initiatives include advancing public health volunteer legislation and launching a carb-counting education project to promote self-care.

These efforts highlight the progress of Thailand’s healthcare system, driven by technology and public participation, aiming for safer, more accessible, and efficient healthcare at every level.
