Ministry of Agriculture and Ministry of Foreign Affairs Strengthen Cooperation to Expand Thai Agricultural Exports to the Middle East

The Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives has joined hands with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to exchange approaches for agricultural cooperation and to promote the expansion of Thai agricultural products into Middle Eastern markets.

Mr. Winaroj Trapsongsaeng, (วิณะโรจน์ ทรัพย์ส่งสุข) Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives, welcomed Ms. Jiraporn Jirampaikul, (จิราพร จิรำไพกูล) Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, Mr. Pongpradit Makjaeng, (พงศ์ปราชญ์ มากแจ้ง) Ambassador attached to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The meeting was attended by senior officials from key agencies, including the Royal Irrigation Department, Department of Agriculture, Department of Livestock Development, Department of Fisheries, Office of Agricultural Economics, and the National Bureau of Agricultural Commodity and Food Standards.

The discussions aimed to strengthen cooperation between the two ministries in driving proactive foreign policy, particularly in the Middle East, which is considered a high-potential target market due to strong purchasing power and a growing focus on food security. The Ministry of Agriculture expressed readiness to work closely with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in exchanging information and coordinating operations to enhance agricultural cooperation and increase the value of Thai agricultural exports to the region. This collaboration is expected to create new market opportunities, add value to agricultural products, and sustainably increase farmers’ income.

In parallel, a delegation from the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, led by the Assistant Permanent Secretary of Jordan’s Ministry of Agriculture, along with representatives from agricultural agencies and the Royal Projects under the Jordanian Royal Court, visited Thailand to study the Royal Initiative Projects. The delegation visited the Department of Agriculture and the 55th Anniversary Commemorative Garden in Bangkok to exchange knowledge on agricultural technology and resource management based on the Royal Initiative approach, which they plan to adapt for agricultural development in Jordan. This visit reflects strong potential for deeper future cooperation.

The Ministry of Agriculture is also in the process of establishing overseas agricultural counselor offices in the Middle East, including in Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. These offices will support agricultural and food trade facilitation and promote academic and technical cooperation between Thailand and Middle Eastern countries.
This collaboration highlights Thailand’s commitment to proactive agricultural diplomacy, strengthening food security partnerships, and expanding Thai agricultural products into high-potential global markets, especially in the Middle East.
