15th Celebration of Silk: Thai Silk Road to the World

Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul has presided over the opening of the 15th Celebration of Silk: Thai Silk Road to the World at the Royal Thai Navy Convention Hall in Bangkok. The event brought together cabinet members and diplomats from 36 countries on the runway in a spectacular showcase of Thai silk and traditional attire.

The annual event is held in honor of Her Majesty the Queen on the occasion of her 48th Birthday Anniversary. The event also pays tribute to the legacy of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother, whose royal initiatives championed sericulture and silkweaving as sustainable livelihoods for local communities across Thailand.

The grand opening featured a fashion showcase in which cabinet members, government representatives, and ambassadors and their spouses from 72 embassies wore exquisite Thai silk garments and traditional royal attire. Six cultural performance acts complemented the runway presentation, celebrating the richness and diversity of Thai heritage.

The ceremony also included award presentations for the 7th Next Big Silk Designer Contest, recognizing young designers for their creativity and innovation in contemporary Thai silk fashion.

Organized by the Ministry of Culture in partnership with multiple public and private agencies, the event aims to strengthen Thailand's creative industries and elevate Thai silk to the global stage as a living cultural heritage that reflects the craftsmanship and wisdom of the Thai people.

The public is also invited to experience the exhibition from June 9th to 14th at the NEXT Hall on the 5th Floor of Siam Paragon, featuring over 250 silk garments designed by students from institutions nationwide.
