Suvarnabhumi Airport's new CUPPS system streamlines check-in and baggage loading processes

Long check-in and baggage drop-off queues may soon be a thing of the past at Suvarnabhumi Airport thanks to the implementation of a new system called CUPPS (Common Use Passenger Processing System). This "self-service passenger check-in" system operates via kiosks and comprises two main functionalities: self-check-in and self-service baggage drop.

With the introduction of the CUSS (Common Use Self Service) system, passengers no longer need to join traditional check-in queues. The CUBD (Common Use Bag Drop) system enables passengers to load their own luggage without having to wait in the customary lines, thus reducing hassle and wait times. The system is designed to be convenient, fast, and easy to use.

The usage process consists of five simple steps: "Select, Print, Tag, Scan, Drop." These steps are detailed as follows:

  1. Select the airline for check-in. Currently, 23 airlines offer self-check-in via the CUSS system. These are: Air Asia, Air Asia X, Air France, All Nippon Airways, Austrian Airlines, Bangkok Airways, Cathay Pacific, China Airlines, EGYPTAIR, EL AL Israel Airlines, EVA Air, Finnair, Japan Airlines, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, Lufthansa, Malaysia Airlines, Philippine Airlines, Qatar Airways, STARLUX Airlines, Thai Airways, Thai Smile Airways, Turkish Airlines, and Vietjet Air.
  2. Check to ensure there are no dangerous items that cannot be brought onboard.
  3. Enter the Booking Number or scan Passport/Flight Number details.
  4. Select a seat.
  5. Specify the number of bags to check.
  6. Print the Bag Tag and Boarding Pass.
  7. Attach the Bag Tag for baggage loading.
  8. Go to the CUBD kiosk, scan the Boarding Pass, and load your baggage.
  9. Place your luggage on the conveyor belt, scan the Bag Tag to confirm, and then load the bag.

Currently, seven airlines allow passengers to use the CUBD self-service bag drop. These are: Air Asia, Air Asia X, Air France, Bangkok Airways, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, Thai Airways, and Thai Smile Airways.
