Plant Genetic Conservation Project under the Royal Initiative in the Tha Pom Klong Song Nam Forest Area

Plant Genetic Conservation Project initiated by His Majesty the King in the Tha Pom Klong Song Nam Forest Area, located in Khao Khram Sub-district, Mueang District, Krabi Province. “Tha Pom Klong Song Nam” is a large swamp forest where the ecosystem of fresh water and sea water are related. The color of the water in the canal changes color according to the rise and fall of sea water. The water in the canal is fresh and clean during normal times, but as the sea level rises and sea water pours into the canal, the water’s color changes to a stunning blue-green. The water in the canal will change to brackish water and seawater. Within Tha Pom Klong Song Nam, there is a 700-meters long nature study bridge in a circular path. Both sides of the road are surrounded by lush green forests along the canal of Tha Pom, Klong Song Nam, full of rosewater trees that spread their roots tightly along the banks alongside mangrove forests. It is also a rich food source for marine fish that swim in the canal for food and return when the tide is low. It is another swamp forest with high biodiversity.
