Doi Inthanon

         Doi Inthanon has developed into a popular tourist site that many people hope to visit at least once in their lives due to the fact that it is the highest point in Thailand and has a cool climate. In the northern area, there is also Doi Tung and the “Pid Thong Lang Pra” Rice Terraces as well. Today we will take you to the purest air in the North. 

         Doi Inthanon or Doi Inthanon National Park is considered the highest peak in Thailand and is also the top tourist attraction that tourists must visit once in their lifetime. Doi Inthanon has an area covering Chom Thong District, Mae Chaem District, Mae Wang District, and Doi Lo District in Chiang Mai Province. Originally, this mountain was named “Doi Luang” from the size of the mountain so large that the villagers called it Doi Luang (Luang is a northern language meaning large) and “Doi Ang Ka” is a Pga K’nyau language that means “big”. Later it was named after the name of “Phra Inthawichayanon” the 7th ruler of Chiang Mai. On Doi Inthanon, there are many tourist attractions such as the highest point on Doi Inthanon / Kew Mae Pan nature trail /Ang Ka nature trail /Phra Mahathat Naphamethaneedon and Phra Mahathat Nopphon Bhumisiri / View point at kilometer 41 / The Royal Agricultural Station Inthanon /Siriphum Waterfall One of Mae Klang Waterfalls / Mae Ya Waterfalls / Pha Dok Siew Waterfalls / Sirithan Waterfall / Ban Mae Klang Luang / Ban Pha Mon / Lady Inthanon Orchid Conservation Project / Wachirathan Waterfall. In addition to the main tourist attractions on Doi Inthanon, there are also accommodations in the national park, resorts, villagers' homestays, including various camping grounds.

 

Doi Tung Development Project (His Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn’s Royal Initiative)

         Doi Tung Development Project (His Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn) is an initiative located in Mae Fah Luang District, Chiang Rai Province. Somdet Phra Srinagarindra Boromarajonani, also known as the Princess Mother, started the project in order to help the villages improve their quality of life by teaching them practical skills and enabling them to earn money through handicraft production, farming, food processing, cafes, and tourism. For tourist attractions here, there are Doi Tung Royal Villa / Mae Fah Luang Garden (Doi Tung Garden) / Doi Tung Tree Top Walk / Hall of Inspiration /Mae Fah Luang Arboretum (Doi Chang Mub) /Phra That Doi Tung, including the Doi Tung Color Festival that will be held annually during December.


“Pid Thong Lang Pra Project” Rice Terraces 


         “Pid Thong Lang Pra Project” Rice Terraces locates in Khun Nan Subdistrict, Chaloem Phra Kiat District, Nan Province. It is a royal initiative project of King Rama 9 and Queen. It is taking mountain areas to grow rice by making rice terraces in order to reduce the use of forest areas and solve poverty problems. The terraced rice fields here cover many villages, from Ban Sa Chuk, Ban Sa Kiang, Ban Buak Um, Ban Piang Sor. During the rainy season, the rice fields are lush and beautiful as far as the eye can see and turn golden yellow from late October to November, which is the winter season. Visitors can enjoy the chilly weather while appreciating the grandeur of the terraced rice fields, and those who want to spend the night at the Ban Sachuk Sakieng Agricultural Development Project can find lodging there.
