Is it wrong if the employer confiscates the work permit and documents of foreign workers?

In the event that an employer seizes a work permit or an alien worker's documents, it is considered an offense under the Foreign Work Management Act 2017, with a maximum imprisonment of 6 months or a fine ranging from 10,000 to 100,000 baht, or both.

As for the case in which a foreign worker agrees to allow anyone to keep their work permit or an important identity document, it will not be considered illegal.  But if the foreign worker requests access to the document, and they are not allowed to get it back, the same penalties will be imposed.
