Getting to Know the Thailand Cyber University Project (Thai MOOC)

     The Thailand Cyber University Project, known as Thai MOOC – for “Massive Open Online Courses” – is a cooperation between the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research, and Innovation, the Office of Information Technology and Communication Center, and numerous educational institutes to develop and manage online courses. It is a project that is driven by economics and the goal of a quality society employing digital technology.

     The Massive Open Online Courses are considered a center for the national community, the center of Architectural Information Technology for an "Open System Education for Lifelong Learning” (Lifelong Learning Space) with teaching and learning modes that happen through various learning resources courses. One major purpose is to meet students’ needs and to support students as they “upskill and reskill” to enhance their knowledge and skill for work, and to help develop all Thais in a new era of change.

The main objectives of the Thailand Cyber University Project include the following:

1) Massive Open Online Courses management to support an unlimited number of students with information sources, learning profiles, “Credit Bank,” and a credit transfer system;

2) Teaching and learning standards and guideline development and educational quality assurance system for the community; 

3) Building cooperation with different universities to develop and improve subject materials in MOOC, and collaborating on credit transfer between institutes;

4) Course development, including materials and activities, following the quality standard and Massive Open Online Courses;

5) Test bank development for courses-record assessment and evaluation in the MOOC system, collecting data for research, and developing better procedures for teaching and learning. 

People who are interested can register and start by choosing more than 500 online subjects from more than 120 institutes and develop skills needed in life via http://thaimooc.org.
