Conditions and Required Documents for Changing the Vessel Type

     Vessel Type categories are based on their characteristics, and it is an absolute requirement for vessel inspection and licensing according to regulations. Every Thai vessel must possess a certificate, and any changes made to it require the owner or representative to submit a request to the registrar with supporting documents. Failure to comply with the vessel license conditions will result in a fine ranging from 1,000 to 10,000 baht as per the Navigation in Thai Waters Act, B.E. 2456 (1913), Section 175.

The person who wishes to notify the change of vessel type must prepare the following documents:

1. Citizen ID card;
2. Alien identification certificate;
3. Passport;
4. Certificate of the juristic person; with juristic person seal;
5. ID card of the assignee or authorized person
6. Copy of the ID card of the head of government agency or state enterprise;
7. Application form (Form Kor 5);
8. Ship's particulars;
9. Thai vessel registration certificate;
10. Certificate of Vessel Inspection (Form Tor Ror 20-1 Kor);
11. Letter of assignment of government agencies or state enterprises to any person to act on their behalf;

13. Power of attorney, if needed, together with an ID card of the person exercising power of attorney. Download a form from the website: http://oldweb.md.go.th/srb/source/form.php;
14. Proof of ownership of the vessel;
15. Receipt of the machine in case of change from non-mechanical vessel to mechanical vessel.

     The application may be submitted to the Vessel Registration Standard Bureau, Marine Department, or the Regional Marine Offices.
