Procedure for Obtaining Permission for a Super Yacht to Operate in Thai Waters

To ensure a smooth entry into Thai waters with your cruise ship, sport boat yacht, or super yacht, it's essential to adhere to the following steps:

  1. The Marine Department will review the documents attached to the permission request form KT. 1, along with the request for permission, which will be announced on the website of the Marine Department or the website of the Ship Standard Registration Bureau or the website of the Regional Marine Office to announce the search for Thai vessel that can be employed in Thai waters and send an official notification to the stakeholders (3 working days).
  2. The Marine Department will compile a report on the document inspection and will submit the request for the permit and supporting documents to the Director General of the Marine Department (5 working days).
  3. The Office of the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Transport, will conduct a process for the Minister of Transport to consider upon the request (7 working days).
  4. The Marine Department will notify the applicant of the result of the consideration (5 working days).
  5. The Marine Department will issue a permit license for persons who do not own a registered Thai vessel for operating in Thai waters (6 working days).       
  6. The Marine Department will consider and offer the request for the permit to the Screening Subcommittee, Ministry of Transport (6 working days).
