Procedure for Obtaining Permission for Foreign Vessels to Trade in Thai Waters

     If you intend to bring a foreign vessel for trading in Thai waters, you must comply with the requirements and complete all necessary documentation to initiate the reviewing process. Remember that allowing foreign vessels to trade in Thai waters is a meticulous process that includes several stages. The procedure lasts approximately 30 days and is divided into the following phases:

  1. The Marine Department will carefully examine the Kor Tor 2-1 permission request form and its accompanying documents, prepare an inspection report, and then forward the request and supporting documents to the Director General of the department. This process typically takes five working days.
  2. The Marine Department will review and submit the permit request to the Screening Subcommittee of the Ministry of Transport, which will take approximately six working days to process.
  3. The request will be forwarded to the Minister of Transport by the Office of the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Transport within seven working days for consideration.
  4. The Marine Department will notify the applicant of the result of the consideration (5 working days).
  5. The Marine Department will issue a permit license for persons who do not own a registered Thai vessel for engaging in trading in Thai waters. (6 working days).
