Registration fees for radio equipment for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs)

     Radio equipment for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), or drones, must be registered and granted permission to operate in Thailand. This process includes submitting various registration fees and requires the completion of three main procedures:

  • Requesting permission to manufacture radio communication equipment;
  • Requesting permission to import radio communication equipment;
  • Requesting permission to trade radio communication equipment.

Each type has a fee to be paid, as follows:

1. License fee for manufacturing of radio communication equipment:

Details: Excluding VAT 7%

Fee: 200 baht

2. License fee for importing radio communication equipment:

Details: Excluding VAT 7%

Fee: 200 baht

3. License fee for trading radio communication equipment:

Details: Excluding VAT 7%

Fee: 1,000 baht

4. License fee for repairing radio communication equipment:

Fee: 500 baht

     In this regard, the resolution of the Office of The National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) prohibits the use of drones without registration. Those who violate this may face imprisonment for up to 5 years, a fine not exceeding 100,000 baht, or both. The registration can be done at the NBTC office, police stations, or the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand, as of 2017.
