Explore Thai Gulf During the Rainy Season: Journey to Koh Phangan, Surat Thani Province

Even in the rainy season, the allure of the beach remains irresistible. We can confirm that you can still venture out and explore from May to October. That’s right, we're talking about the Thai Gulf. Today, we will take you to one of the most famous spots among both Thai and foreign tourists. No other place fits this description better than Koh Phangan in Surat Thani Province, renowned for its “Full Moon Party” – a celebration of dance, drink, and partying under a full moon on Haad Rin Beach. This event attracts tourists from all over the world, generating significant revenue for Thailand.

Besides the unmissable "Full Moon Party," we invite you to get acquainted with some beautiful beaches on Koh Phangan.

The first one is “Yao Beach,” stretching for about 1 kilometer. This is one of the most popular spots for tourists because of the beautiful sunsets. It’s perfect for relaxation and admiring the beauty of the sea.

Mae Haad Beach is known for its fine, white sand and crystal-clear water. From March to May, the sea recedes, revealing a sandbar about 200 meters long that becomes a natural bridge to Koh Ma, a perfect spot for snorkeling to explore the coral reefs of Koh Phangan.

Haad Rin, also known as the "Full Moon Party" beach, is another highlight and is the most popular spot for tourists. Its reputation resonates across the globe.

Salad Beach is a tranquil, private spot that doesn’t usually get overcrowded. It's also one of Koh Phangan’s prime snorkeling spots with coral reefs just 150 meters from the shore.

Hat Suan Son offers privacy and is ideal for snorkeling in shallow water, thanks to its extended cape that makes for easy access.

Thong Nai Pan Beach is considered the second most beautiful beach on the island after Haad Rin.

Moreover, Koh Phangan has numerous other beautiful beaches and bays that are popular among tourists, such as Hin Kong Bay, Inner Moon Bay, Wok Tum Bay, Chalok Lam Beach, Outer Rin Beach, Thong Nai Pan Yai Beach, Sri Thanu Beach, and Tien Beach.

To get to Koh Phangan, you can drive or fly. If you choose to drive from Bangkok, take Highway No. 35 south, continue to Chumphon, then take Highway No. 41 passing through Lang Suan and Chaiya districts to Surat Thani Province. The total distance is approximately 685 kilometers.

If you prefer to fly, both Don Mueang and Suvarnabhumi Airports offer flights, with a travel time of about one hour. We recommend booking your flight 1-2 months in advance during the high season.

Travelers who want to visit Ko Pha Ngan can find more information about accommodation on the island at the official Namtok Than Sadet National Park -  Ko Pha Ngan Facebook page, or by calling the number +669 4784 4498.
