Golden Shower Road: A New Landmark in Uttaradit Province Blooms Each Summer

When talking about the Royal Poinciana, commonly known as "Golden Shower," many people might think of Golden Shower Road in Khon Kaen Province.

However, today we have a new landmark to introduce, located in Kho Rum Sub-district, Phichai District, Uttaradit Province, on Highway 117 between Phayaman and Rai Oi, between Kilometer Marker 190+500 to 193+500. Covering over three kilometers, this is considered the "Golden Shower Road," the longest in the northern region, which blossoms for viewers to enjoy once a year.

The Golden Shower blooms with vibrant yellow flowers filling both sides of the road, starting from March and lasting until May, creating a beautiful landscape. It has become a new landmark for tourists in Phichai District, Uttaradit Province. Locals or tourists can stop for photo shoots before proceeding to worship and visit the museum of Phraya Pichai Broken Sword's birthplace.

"Golden Shower Road" is the result of the concerted effort of local residents, who collectively planted more than 1,000 Golden Shower trees along both sides of the road.

To get here from Ban Klang Intersection, Mueang District, Phitsanulok Province, drive straight on Highway 12 and make a U-turn in front of Wat Mek Suwanaram Ratchaworawihan, passing the PTT Naresuan Dam Petrol Station at Kilometer Marker 210+200 approximately 500 meters, and turn left. Continue on Highway 117 towards Phrom Phiram District, Phitsanulok Province, go straight past the Phayaman Police Station, Phayaman Sub-district, Phichai District, Uttaradit Province until you reach the Health Promotion Hospital in Tha Mafueang Sub-district, where you will find the beautiful Golden Shower Road on both sides.

The Department of Highways would like to ask for cooperation from the public and tourists planning to take photographs to park their vehicles carefully on both sides of the road to prevent traffic congestion and accidents, and to not obstruct traffic on the highway. It also urges everyone to travel safely, be mindful of the environment, and not damage the flowers.
