The Mae Sai Crossing is located at the Thai-Myanmar Friendship Bridge No. 1, in Mae Sai District, Chiang Rai Province, linking with Tachileik Province in Myanmar. This crossing is renowned as a bustling border market, frequented by Thais, Myanmarese, and other ethnic minorities, who visit to purchase consumer goods. Moreover, following its closure during the COVID-19 pandemic, the border crossing has now reopened, enabling travel to Tachileik from 06:30 to 18:00. There is no need to produce a border crossing document - a national identity card or any other government-issued card will suffice. However, certain goods are not permitted to be brought into Thailand, such as wildlife products, alcohol, foreign cigarettes, and pornographic media.
