Adventure Tourism: Cruising through Tham Le Khao Kop in Trang

If you love adventure tourism in the midst of breathtaking nature, don't miss Le Khao Kop Cave – one of the unseen attractions in Trang.

Tham Le Khao Kop, located in Khao Kop Subdistrict, Huay Yod District, is a natural wonder full of stalactites and caves within caves, such as Tham Kon Tun, Tham Rak Sai, Tham Jao Sao, Tham Tong Prarong, Tham Pra Sawan, Tham Tapab Nam, Tham Phet, Tham Ploy, Tham Paeng, and Tham Lod. However, only a few of these are open for visitors. One of them is Tham Kon Tun; when you strike something inside that cave, the sound is similar to a Thai musical instrument. The legend goes that, in the past, there was a Gandharva who would come and play music for Kinnarees (half human, half bird) who were having fun at the falls. The next cave that is open for visitors is Tham Jao Sao (the Bridge Cave). Within the cave, there is a rock that looks like a bed, and the locals believe that if people who are single walk through the middle of the curtain in the hall of the cave, they will meet their soulmate after they go back out. However, if you have a partner and walk through the valley on the left, you will stay happily together. Most importantly, after making a wish, you need to walk through the main hall; otherwise, your wishes won't come true. Next is Tham Rak Sai (Banyan Root Cave). The name comes from the appearance of the rocks, which resemble the roots of banyan trees, running all the way to Tham Tong Prarong. Lastly, we come to Tham Lod, or Dragon Cave, which is the highlight of Tham Le Khao Kop. The only way into the cave is to take a boat, and you have to lie down on it, as well, so it is like going under a dragon's belly. It is believed that doing this is a way to remove your bad luck, so when you get out, you will be faced with only good luck. Totally worth the ride, right!

You can visit Tham Le Khao Kop any time of the year, but the boats can't go through the cave during the rainy season because of the high level of water. You will have to carefully check with the weather forecast before traveling. If you travel to Trang, you won't regret going to this place.
