Lifestyle Tourism at Jao Pau Rom Kao Shrine in Phitsanulok
For those who love to visit communities and want to experience a unique cultural way of life, we would like to introduce Ban Pha Rang Mhee, which is located in Noen Maprang District in Phitsanulok Province. It is a community surrounded by hills and mountains, and within it, people still live with simplicity and old traditions. Tourists who travel to Ban Pha Mhee can take a tram to sightsee around the village and to go to different places, such as Wat Pha Rang Mhee Wanaram – a location with a sacred cave that the villagers respect and worship. Inside the cave is the enshrined Luang Phoa Petmanee, a reclining Buddha image that was built in B.E. 2517 (1974).
Furthermore, there is another sacred shrine that is also greatly respected and worshiped by the villagers. White Umbrella Shrine is believed by the villagers to protect the villages from dangers and grant wishes of the villagers. They hold a feast annually on the 6th day of the 6th lunar month. The worship ceremony made to the shrine is for the blessing of the villages, and the villagers believe that if you make a wish about work, you should give 7 pig heads; if you make a wish about love, give 9 pig heads, following the saying, “7 heads for work; 9 heads for a foreign husband.” Visitors to Ban Pha Rang Mhee may perform the Five Aggregates themselves and pay homage to the White Umbrella god for a blessing.
