Global Sustainable Tourism Criteria and measuring economic benefits with community career opportunities

       Tourists are becoming more interested in eco-friendly tourism and are looking for locations that promote sustainable tourism so that future generations can benefit from nature and pass it down from generation to generation while not negatively impacting local people. Another reason is that these things, in addition to creating a good environment for tourism, also help to create good career opportunities and good jobs for locals.

       Consequently, in order to promote the management of tourist attractions in accordance with global sustainable tourism guidelines, social and economic sustainability must be promoted. Creating good jobs and career opportunities in the community is therefore one of the criteria; more information is provided below.

       Tourism attractions must promote and support tourism job opportunities and training in their communities;
Tourist attraction operators are committed to giving all people equal opportunities for local employment, training and career advancement, a safe and secure working environment, and a reasonable wage appropriate for the cost of living.

Indicators for career opportunities and community include the following:

  1. Courses in relevant skills are available;
  2. Entrepreneurs make statements or make promises about providing good jobs and career opportunities;
  3. Local residents, including women, youth, minorities, and people with disabilities, are encouraged to pursue training and employment opportunities;
  4. There are channels for inspecting working conditions, listening to employees, and managing employee dissatisfaction, such as labor union membership.
