The criteria for sustainable tourism in the world – “Tourism for All”

      “Tourism for All” (Tourism for All) is a tourism trend that is gaining worldwide attention. It is tourism in which people of all genders, ages, and physical conditions can access tourist attractions, public services, and various tourist activities in a convenient, safe, and unobstructed manner, in spite of differences in physical condition, age, and gender. Tourism for All is thus a new type of tourism that should be developed in various tourist cities, particularly in Thailand’s main and secondary cities, which are important tourist attractions. The world has not forgotten about sustainable tourism. As a result, the following criteria for tourism accessibility for all people and for all groups are required:

  1. Attractions, facilities, and services must be available to all demographics. All groups of people, including people with disabilities and those with special needs or access needs, must have their natural and cultural possibilities considered;
  2. If attractions and facilities are not immediately accessible, designs and solutions must take into account the harmony of the attractions, and accommodation for groups of people with special needs must be provided at reasonable prices;
  3. Accessibility to attractions, facilities, and services is provided.

The indicators of Tourism for All are as follows:

  1. There are regulations and standards in place for those who require special assistance in accessing attractions, facilities, and services;
  2. Standards for special needs facilities that are appropriate for public facilities are used;
  3. Describes the extent or proportion of access to attractions and facilities available to people with special needs;
  4. There is evidence that action is being taken to improve accessibility for people with varying accessibility needs;
  5. Information on facilities for those in need of special assistance must be included when promoting the tourist attraction as a whole;
  6. Details of facilities for those requiring special assistance can be found in tourist information sources in the main tourist areas.
