Metro Art: A new art space in the heart of the city

Foreign visitors flock to Bangkok, the nation’s capital, because it is one of the world’s most popular tourist spots, and the Thai government has actively promoted the city's image as an artistic center. Metro Art, “a new art space in the heart of the city at MRT Phahon Yothin,” was just recently unveiled, giving pleasure to commuters and bringing communities together through the use of art. Art is fundamental to human existence and the creation of things in this world because it is embedded in us from the moment of our birth. With the launch of “Metro Art,” a new art space spanning over 1,000 square meters in the heart of Bangkok, the Bangkok Expressway and Metro Public Company Limited (BEM), a provider of expressways and MRT Blue and Purple Lines, and Bangkok Metro Networks Co., Ltd. (BMN), a provider of advertising media and event space in the MRT system, have teamed up with leading art alliances to bring art to the center of the city. In addition to serving as a tourist destination and a part of the art community that helps those who travel with art to fill their energy with art and continue to have fun through 2023, the destination aspires to become a new art destination for art lovers both in Thailand and abroad.

Additionally, the Tourism Authority of Thailand and the Mass Rapid Transit Authority of Thailand (BMN) are collaborating to transform the Phahol Yothin MRT Station into a hub for art by renowned artists and a platform where up-and-coming creatives can showcase their talents. In the year 2023, the Art Learning Center will be open to the public as a place to attend free workshops led by art experts and open to anyone with an interest in or appreciation for the visual arts.

It’s an innovative way to combine art with the Mass Rapid Transit system, bringing works by Thai artists into the heart of the city and giving MRT riders a unique experience while also showing support for and appreciating the work of Thai artists. “Metro Art: The Inspiring District” welcomes visitors from 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., seven days a week, at no cost. More information is available at the Metro Mall's Facebook page.
