Today I’d like to recommend the cross-border train route “Thailand - Lao PDR,” which takes only 15 minutes and costs only 20 baht, ideal for the curious traveler who wants to experience cross-border travel by train.
Nong Khai Railway Station serves as the starting point for the Nong Khai - Vientiane train service, while Thanaleng Railway Station serves as the final destination for passengers in the Lao People’s Democratic Republic. Ban Khok Pho Si, Mueang Hat Sai Fong, Vientiane, is home to what is widely recognized as the first railway station in the Lao People's Democratic Republic. The entire distance is only 5.35 kilometers and can be covered in just under 15 minutes. Nong Khai Station runs two trains per day, at 07.30 and 14.45 hr, and Thanaleng Station operates two trains, at 10.00 and 17.30 hr, for the convenience of passengers in both countries.
Travelers planning to enter the Kingdom of Thailand and exit into the Lao People’s Democratic Republic through the Nong Khai Tourism Information Center after 1 October 2022 will no longer be required to present vaccination documents or cancel the ATK test.
