Community tourism Five communities, five regions

After the COVID-19 crisis subsided, people began to return to their normal lives, and the first thoughts of many people turned to travel. Maybe they wanted truly to “get away from it all” and find a simple, uncomplicated spot just to relax and take life as it comes. However, with the growth of large cities, people have moved away from simple lifestyles, so  finding communities in smaller, secondary cities and towns has become the new goal of tourists who wish to experience the way of a new culture and enjoy the places and people as they used to be, a “slow life journey,”

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has opened an eco-tourism program, in the Thai way of community tourism, to open up to new travel trends after COVID-19 and to raise the level of community tourism to the international level, with more interesting places in five regions, which you can learn about here.

 - Northern region, Tha Chai Community, Sukhothai Province: Have a trip around the old town full of historical sites, the traditional way of life of the Si Satchanalai people, and the heritage of folk wisdom, such as valuable paintings, paintings on the walls of Wat Taling Chan Making, patterns on goldware and silverware, and Si Satchanalai woven fabrics.

 - Northeast Region, Ban Dua Community, Nong Khai Province: This is an agricultural village along the Mekong River where the villagers have a lifestyle of agriculture and fishing. You may also pay homage to Luang Pho Tanjai, make krathong, fold origami birds with palm leaves, and enjoy delectable dishes cooked with Mekong River fish.

 - Eastern Region, Lang Natural Community, Trat Province: Ecotourism villagers have a lifestyle of farming and coastal fishing. In the community, there is a learning center for learning how to make bio-organic fertilizers. In addition, visitors can also learn how to make natural tie-dyed fabrics.

 - Central Region, Ban Phu Khae Community, Saraburi Province: This is a rural lifestyle village with a popular market, Hua Plee Market, which gathers the best of Saraburi’s products.
