The charm of street food: Why Thai street food is so popular

      Thai street food – or ready-to-eat food sold by a hawker or vendor on the sidewalk, along a street, or in other public places – is enjoyed and appreciated by tourists all over the world. Now, it has become a milestone for traveling in Thailand, especially street food in Bangkok, which has been praised as number one in terms of deliciousness. Those traveling in Thailand should not miss the chance to try street food once in their lifetime. Thai street food is charming, in its simple way, and can be found at every corner of the city and any time, from morning to night. The Michelin Guidebook praises Thailand for being the heaven of street food. Food is delicious with a variety of flavors, creating a memorable eating experience, and most dishes are available everywhere in Thailand, especially Pad Thai, Tom Yum Kung, Som Tam, Gang Keaw Wan (green curry), or desserts like sticky rice with mango and many kinds of fruit.

      Thanks to such outstanding features, the World Street Food Congress has recognized Thai street food as one of the top three most-loved street foods. Bangkok has even been honored by CNN as one of the 23 best cities in the world for street food for two consecutive years. 

      Euromonitor International, the leading world food market research company, estimated in 2017 or in the past six years that street food in Thailand was able to generate the revenue of 271,355 million baht.
