Measures for screening of passengers and carry-on luggage before boarding

Measures for screening of passengers and carry-on luggage before boarding

      When traveling by air, passengers are advised by airports and airlines that they will conduct searches of carry-on baggage to look for weapons, dangerous goods, or prohibited items carried by passengers on board. Searches are carried out under the standards of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) or other relevant laws.

     Prior to checking in at the counter, passengers must be prepared to go through the security checkpoint:

     1. Put liquids, gels, sprays, or other objects and substances which have similar characteristics in containers larger than 100 ml in checked baggage for check-in, because sizes over 100 ml are not allowed to be carried on board;

     2. Passengers are allowed to bring liquids in a travel-sized container of not more than 100 ml and put them in a zip-lock transparent plastic bag, size 20 x 20 cm (provided at the service desk in front of the check-in counter, 1 zip-lock bag per passenger, with the total amount of liquid not exceeding 1 liter, to be taken through the X-ray machine and separate from other carry-on baggage;

     3. All kinds of sharp objects must be packed in checked baggage as they are not allowed to be carried on board;

     4. Passengers with firearms and ammunition must inform the airline staff at the check-in counter to conduct document checks and separate ammunition at the specified location;

     5. Passengers are not allowed to carry any type of substance, dangerous substance, or animal that may harm the aircraft and other persons on board, whether packed in checked baggage or carried on board the aircraft.

Passing through the security checkpoint

     1. Before entering the security checkpoint

     When going through the check-in process and passport control procedures (if applicable), passengers will undergo a security check before boarding. In the first step, passengers are requested to present a boarding pass to the staff.

     2. At the security checkpoint

    2.1 When entering the X-ray lane, there will be baggage trays provided. Passengers are requested to put all luggage/ baggage in the tray to pass through the X-ray machine. If the passenger has a laptop, jacket, and zip-lock bag containing liquids, they must be separated from other baggage and put in a tray. As for valuable belongings in the carry-on baggage, they must be in the bag and it must be completely closed before putting it in the X-ray tray;

   2.2 Passengers may be asked to take off their belts and shoes in order to pass through the X-ray machine for passengers or the metal detector;

   2.3 Passengers put the tray through the X-ray machine;

   2.4 Passengers walk through metal detectors according to the staff’s instructions. Passengers who, for good reason, do not wish to walk through a metal detector, such as passengers with a pacemaker and pregnant passengers, must inform the staff in front of the security checkpoint to go through a dedicated channel and undergo a manual body search.

   2.5 Passengers who have walked through metal detectors without an alarm sounding may pick up their baggage that has passed through the X-ray machine;

   2.6 Passengers who have walked through metal detectors but triggered an alarm must walk back out for screening again to check if there are any metal objects left on their bodies or in their clothing. If there are, they must remove the objects and put them on a tray to pass through the X-ray machine and walk through the metal detectors again;
   2.7 In the event that a passenger walks through metal detectors and the alarm is still triggered, the staff will ask the passenger to undergo a body search to determine the cause of the metal detector alarm;

   2.8 During the body search process, passengers are requested to follow the staff's instructions;

   2.9 After passing the body search procedure, passengers may be asked to open their baggage, and passengers are requested to follow the staff's instructions;

   2.10 Passengers who are found to have prohibited items in their baggage must follow the staff's instructions and the airport security measures;

   2.11 For passengers who are uncomfortable undergoing body and baggage screening in public places, the airport has prepared a screening room, and passengers are requested to notify the staff for individual screening.

     3. Upon completion of the search process, please check your carry-on baggage before exiting the security checkpoint;

     4. If passengers refuse to be searched, whether it's a bag search or body search, and refuse to comply with security measures, the airport reserves the right not to allow those passengers to pass through the security checkpoint.
