The Ministry of Commerce revealed data from the Global Trade Atlas (GTA) showing that Thailand exports the most fresh durian to China globally, with a volume reaching 121,398 tons, valued at 717 million USD.
According to the Customs Department, from January to April 2024, Thailand exported over 225,204 tons of fresh durian, with a continuous upward trend. This ensures Thailand's top position in exporting fresh durian to China. Efforts are being made to explore new markets in secondary cities in China and strengthen cooperation with other countries to maintain export growth. Consequently, the average export price per unit of Thai durian is 6 USD per kilogram, or 216 THB per kilogram.
This year, the government aims to export durian worth over 3 billion USD, focusing on developing high-quality durian varieties and removing export obstacles. An MOU with the Thai-Chinese Agricultural Product Import-Export Association was signed to export 20,000 tons of durian from April to June 2024.
In 2023, Thailand exported over 2.36 million tons of fruit to China, accounting for 90% of Thailand's fruit export value. China has been Thailand's top trading partner for 11 consecutive years and remains the largest market for Thai agricultural products and fruits.
In summary, Thailand continues to lead in fresh durian exports to China and aims to increase export volumes in the future.
