DAPBot is a technology developed by NSTDA researchers that assists farmers in effectively managing pests and plant diseases conveniently through the LINE platform. This system can identify pests, diagnose plant diseases, and recommend the correct use of biopesticides, including reliable sources for purchasing high-quality biopesticides. This makes pest control straightforward; simply add LINE @dapbot to have a 24/7 agricultural problem-solving assistant.
The research team from the National Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (BIOTEC) and the National Electronics and Computer Technology Center (NECTEC) developed DAPBot to connect farmers, academics, and biopesticide producers through a user-friendly LINE system. This system aids in diagnosing diseases and pest insects while recommending the proper use of biopesticides, such as type, dosage, and appropriate timing. Additionally, the system links to quality biopesticide manufacturers and provides weather information through the DragonFly system from GISTDA, allowing farmers to choose the optimal times for biopesticide application. Using DAPBot is very simple; just add LINE @dapbot and register. Then, take a photo or send an image of the problem in the agricultural field. The team will respond within 24 hours. Not only can users inquire about pests and plant diseases, but they can also ask questions about soil, water, fertilizers, or weather conditions. DAPBot has been operational for six months, with over 1,000 farmers registered.
DAPBot aims to be an assistant that can develop and elevate Thai agriculture to be safer, reducing reliance on chemical substances and promoting the widespread use of biopesticides in the country. Farmers and anyone interested in growing any type of crop can add LINE @dapbot, or biopesticide producers wishing to join the network can contact the Biocontrol Technology Research Team at BIOTEC, NSTDA.
