Thailand Advances in AI for Healthcare: Emphasizing Cybersecurity and PDPA to Build Future HealthTech Systems

The Ministry of Public Health has convened a committee to oversee the development of artificial intelligence (AI) in the medical and public health sectors. The focus is on ensuring that all AI projects benefit the public and healthcare practitioners while strictly adhering to cybersecurity laws and the Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA).

Currently, AI is being utilized in various areas, including AI chatbots on platforms like "หมอพร้อม" (Doctor Ready) and "Panthai AI Doctor & Chatbot" to provide health information. Additionally, AI is used for analyzing medical images, EEG readings, sleep quality assessments, and screening for pathologies. There are also AI applications for analyzing retinal images, oral health, and medical data analysis, such as the KINDEE nutrition monitoring system and MedAdCheck for detecting fake news.

The development of AI enhances diagnostic accuracy, reduces the workload of healthcare personnel, and improves the efficiency of Thailand's public health system. This supports modern and secure services, addressing the needs of both the public and healthcare providers.
