The important Environmental Policies for Businesses: New Approaches to Sustainable Development.

Deputy Prime Minister Prasert Chanthararuangthong, as chair of the 2nd meeting of the National Environment Board (NEB) for 2024, emphasized the importance of environmental issues and addressing disasters caused by climate change. He also outlined key policies, including:

  1. Prioritizing climate change, which impacts disasters such as floods and landslides.
  2. Preparing for PM2.5, focusing on reducing air pollution from PM2.5 particles through multi-stakeholder collaboration.
  3. Hazardous waste management, emphasizing the enforcement of laws to prevent illegal dumping of industrial hazardous waste.
  4. Addressing waste and wastewater management, focusing on managing solid waste and sewage after floods.
  5. Conservation of natural resources, restoring and maintaining environmental balance.

The meeting also approved key topics as follows:

  1. The Thai-German Cooperation project approved a grant agreement of 234 million baht, with 150 million baht allocated to support greenhouse gas emission reductions in the business sector.
  2. Low-carbon community model, a project aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions at the local level, with a focus on public participation.
  3. Regulation of industrial factories, measures to control and monitor high-risk factories to ensure public confidence.
  4. Measures to combat wildfires, haze, and dust in 2025, including fire management in agricultural areas, dust control in urban areas, transboundary haze management, and the establishment of provincial and regional wildfire and haze response centers.

This meeting reflects the government's commitment to developing concrete environmental policies and promoting participation from all sectors in addressing these challenging issues for a sustainable future and improved quality of life for the Thai people.
