Prime Minister’s Office Minister Paradorn Prissananantakul has announced the public access plan for paying respects to Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother at Dusit Maha Prasat Throne Hall within the Grand Palace on November 9, describing steps to ensure safety, order, and accessibility throughout the tribute.
The Bureau of the Royal Household has confirmed that the Grand Palace and the Temple of the Emerald Buddha will remain closed to the public until November 8 due to ongoing royal religious ceremonies. Public access will begin on November 9, with the Ministry of Interior estimating 3,000 to 5,000 people from each province will travel to Bangkok. To manage attendance, provinces have been instructed to compile visitor lists and schedule group visits in alphabetical order, assigning each province a specific date and time slot.
Upon arrival in Bangkok, attendees will be transported by shuttle buses from Sanam Luang to a designated drop-off point before entering the Grand Palace on foot. The Ministry of Transport will provide additional services for senior citizens and persons with disabilities, while the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security will offer wheelchair assistance.
The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration will oversee crowd control at Sanam Luang, where large tents will be set up to accommodate around 10,000 people per session. Three sessions will be held each day, accommodating up to 40,000 visitors. Waiting areas will include food, water, rest zones, mobile charging stations, and internet access.
The plan is being implemented through coordination between national and local agencies to ensure that all who wish to pay tribute can do so safely and respectfully during the official mourning period.
