Lt. Naiyanobh Bhirombhakdi, President of the Paralympic Committee of Thailand, expressed satisfaction with the performance of the Thai Para squad after the team's opening day of competition at the ASEAN Para Games. They won 17 Gold, 14 Silver, and 18 Bronze medals (Data as of Jan 21, 17:21 hrs). He stated that the overall outcome was in line with the set goals and praised the performance across many sports, especially seeing new athletes stepping up to create results and gain international experience.
Lt. Naiyanobh said, “The competition results on the first day reflect the development of the Thai national team athletes, both in the core group and the rising stars who have been given continuous opportunities to compete. Many demonstrated potential beyond expectations, which is a good sign for long-term team building.
What is satisfying is not just the medals, but seeing an increase in new faces who show promise to develop into the main force of the national team in the future. This ASEAN Para Games is considered an important platform to pave the way for bigger goals.”
He also praised the work of the coaches and staff who looked after the athletes closely, resulting in effective pre-competition preparation and efficient handling of immediate situations.
For the ASEAN Para Games competition from today until January 26, 2026, Lt. Naiyanobh Bhirombhakdi confirmed that the Thai Para squad remains committed to performing to their fullest, giving over 100 percent, with the goal of reclaiming the overall championship and building upon the success of the Thai Para sports community in the future.
