Ban Na Pom Reservoir Improvement Project under the Royal Initiative : Mitigating Drought in the Community

On July 23, 2015, residents of Sam Roi Yot Subdistrict, Sam Roi Yot District, Prachuap Khiri Khan Province, submitted a request for royal assistance in providing a water source. Most villagers are involved in farming, gardening, and livestock raising but they face severe drought, leading to a shortage of essential water for agriculture and animal husbandry.

On February 6, 2020, His Majesty the King graciously approved the improvement of the existing intake structure of Ban Na Pom Reservoir, which has a capacity of 200,000 cubic meters. The project includes the construction of an 800-meter water diversion canal, a 27-meter road underpass, and a 358-meter water diversion canal, which was accepted as a Royal Initiative Project.

The project significantly benefits the local population, particularly in Village 2 (Ban Nong Khao Niao), Village 1 (Ban Mai), Village 3 (Ban Phu Yai), Village 4 (Ban Phu Noi), and Village 9 (Ban Nong Yai), consisting of approximately 2,521 people from 1,171 households. Having a sufficient water source helps improve the quality of life for these communities by supporting their consumption and household needs.

Additionally, the project helps alleviate recurring droughts in Sam Roi Yot Subdistrict, improving the efficiency of agricultural and livestock activities. This project is an essential step toward community sustainability and improving the quality of life for future generations.
