The Wang Khang Hung water control structure project in Lam Huay Thuan, Udon Thani Province, stemmed from the needs of the community in Village 1, Ban Wang Thong, who faced water shortages for consumption and agriculture. His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej The Great graciously accepted the project as a Royal Initiative on March 3, 2015.
The concrete-reinforced water control structure, 9.9 meters high and 15 meters long, was built to manage water levels in Lam Huay Thuan and efficiently store water. Additionally, dredging work was conducted in front of the structure and along the stream for 970 meters, removing about 38,000 cubic meters of soil.
Today, 467 households, totaling 1,868 people in Ban Wang Thong, have access to a sufficient water supply throughout the year. The project also supports agricultural activities, enabling farming on 900 rai during the rainy season and an additional 300 rai in the dry season. This ensures that the community can continue farming sustainably, improving their quality of life.
This project not only resolves water shortages but also strengthens the security of agriculture and improves the quality of life for the local community. The Wang Khang Hung water control structure serves as a clear example of development focused on supporting and enhancing the well-being of rural communities.
