Thai Researcher from NANOTEC, NSTDA, Wins Outstanding Technologist Award 2024 for Research on “Rapidly Adjustable Micron-Sized Needle Manufacturing Process”

On October 17, 2024, at The Athenee Hotel Bangkok, the 2024 Outstanding Technologist Award was presented to a researcher from the National Nanotechnology Center (NANOTEC). The researcher received the award for the work entitled "Rapidly Adjustable Micron-Sized Needle Manufacturing Process," a groundbreaking innovation with the potential to transform medical treatment methods.

This achievement is notable for developing microneedles that are only a tenth of the width of a human hair, allowing the painless delivery of essential substances into the body with minimal discomfort. Additionally, these needles can be rapidly produced in large quantities, meeting the demands of the growing healthcare industry. In the same event, Dr. Anchalee Manonukul from the National Metal and Materials Technology Center (MTEC) was named as a finalist for her work on “Open-Cell Pure Titanium Foam,” developed to meet the needs of the healthcare industry, a result of collaboration between MTEC and Taisai Kogyo (Thailand) Co., Ltd.

Both innovations not only highlight Thailand's technological progress but also demonstrate competitive potential on the global stage. The Foundation for the Promotion of Science and Technology under the Patronage of His Majesty the King has recognized the importance of supporting domestic technological development to foster self-reliance and propel Thailand’s economy forward.

This award ceremony serves as a crucial motivation for Thai researchers and technologists to continue developing practical innovations that address consumer needs in a rapidly evolving technological era.
