This summary provides key updates from the Joint News Center (established by the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Defense, all Armed Forces, Royal Thai Police, and related agencies) regarding the current border conflict.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) The Minister of Foreign Affairs has given interviews to major international media outlets such as BBC, CNN, Reuters, Al Jazeera, and CNA to clarify the facts about the latest situation and correct misunderstandings arising from distorted information on social media. Furthermore, the MFA is undertaking formal diplomatic actions, including sending a protest letter to Cambodia, sending letters of clarification to ASEAN member, and notifications to the United Nations, Secretary-General and the President of the UN Security Council.

Thai Embassies and Consulates-General worldwide have been tasked to proactively explain the facts to host governments and media, reaffirming Thailand’s steadfast position on peaceful means, international law, and factual accuracy.

The Royal Thai Army conducted military operations following the morning briefing as follows;

1. 2nd Army Area Since the morning, the Cambodia has initiated attacks on Thai bases and positions using BM-21, bomb-dropping drones, and suicide drones across multiple fronts, including Chong Bok, Chong An Ma, Prasat Ta Kwai, and Prasat Khna with intensive efforts to reclaim the Phu Mak Kuea and Prasat Ta Muean Thom areas. Thai forces responded with direct-fire and indirect-fire weapons, inflicting damage in these critical areas. Thai forces are making every effort to control the objectives despite obstacles posed by Cambodian weapons fire. Currently, the Suranaree Task Force continues to follow its plan to counter the attacks and pushback intruders from the area to protect Thailand’s sovereignty.

2. 1st Army Area (Burapha Task Force)

2.1 Operations in Ban Nong Ya Kaew continued for the second day, where 2 PMN-2 anti-personnel landmines and 2 sets of Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs): Set (all operational) were found.

2.2 11 Ranger Force Regiment used tank artillery to destroy a casino located on the Cambodian side adjacent to the border. This structure was being utilized as a position. for weapons, machine gun nests, and depot” to attack Thai forces opposite the Ban Ta Phraya temporary border crossing, Sa Kaeo province. Currently, while the Burapha Task Force is conducting operations, they are facing continuous attacks from BM-21 rockets, artillery and mortars.

3. Impact on Civilians: Reports confirm that homes have been damaged due to attacks. A BM-21 rocket fragment struck a home in Ban Sok Kham Pom, Si Sa Ket province, causing damage but no initial injuries. Additionally, an artillery shell struck a home in Ban Khok Thahan, Sa Kaeo province, with no injuries or fatalities.

4. The RTA confirms to conduct operations with full capability under the Rules of Engagement (ROE) and the Right to Self-Defense until the threat ceases to protect the sovereignty, territorial integrity, and safety of the Thai people within the framework of international law and humanitarian principles. Thailand affirms that it did not initiate the violence but has to respond to the violation in a necessary and  appropriate manner.

The Royal Thai Navy (RTN) continues military operations against military targets that pose a threat along the maritime border to halt the aggression, confirming that all actions are for the defense of sovereignty and the safety of the people.

The Royal Thai Air Force (RTAF) firmly adhere to the principle of operations aimed at minimizing collateral damage to civilians. Military actions, conducted in conjunction with ground forces to destroy opposing targets, must be carried out with the utmost caution using high-precision weapons. The RTAF is also committed to its mission of civilian protection, with the main objective being the preservation of lives and property of the people of both nations

The Royal Thai Police (RTP) affirm full commitment to ensuring the security of the lives and property of people. Security has been increased in vulnerable locations, such as shopping centers, government buildings, transportation hubs, and public utilities. The public is requested to report any suspect individuals or objects by calling 191 or 1599 (24 hours).

Thailand adheres to the principles of International Humanitarian Law (IHL), Right to Self-Defense, and the concept of a Preemptive Strike (attacking when an imminent threat is present, and force is the only way to eliminate the target).

The Government and all security agencies place the highest priority on the safety of the people, including evacuation, assistance, and compensation for those affected, and managing the situation prudently under humanitarian principles.
