Royal Patronage Granted to People Injured and Died in Crane Collapse in Nakhon Ratchasima

His Majesty the King has graciously granted royal patronage to the people injured in a construction crane collapse onto a passenger train in Si Khio District, Nakhon Ratchasima Province. The royal patronage has also been granted for the funeral and cremation of those who died in the accident.

Their Majesties the King and Queen expressed their deep concern and sorrow over the tragic incident on 14 January 2026, when the crane, operated by a contractor for the Thai–Chinese high-speed rail project fell onto Special Express Train No. 21, while it was traveling between Nong Nam Khun Station and Sikhio Station.

His Majesty provided 20,000 baht for each family whose family members died in the accident. Their Majesties the King and Queen have also closely followed up on the situation.

Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn immediately visited Nakhon Ratchasima to inspect the situation. The Prime Minister instructed the State Railway of Thailand to provide compensation to those affected by the incident and take care of them as best as it can.

The State Railway of Thailand, meanwhile, formed a committee to investigate into the crane collapse. It told the contractor of the construction project to suspend their operations pending the results of the investigation, which is set to be completed within 15 days. Legal action will also be taken against those involved in the incident.

A coordination center has been set up to provide assistance to the victims, with personnel on duty around the clock. The Ministry of Public Health has also arranged a Mental Health Crisis Assessment and Treatment Team to take care of the affected people and their families.
