Thailand-China-USA Foreign Ministers Have Phone Call Discussion on Developments in the Region

On 18 December 2025, H.E. Mr. Sihasak Phuangketkeow, Minister of Foreign Affairs, had a telephone conversation with H.E. Mr. Wang Yi, Director of the Office of the Central Foreign Affairs Commission of the Chinese Communist Party and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China (PRC), to discuss Thailand - China bilateral relations and recent developments in the region. 

Both sides reaffirmed the strong bilateral ties between Thailand and China, especially as both countries celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations this year. They also exchanged views on situations in the region, especially the Thailand - Cambodia border situation, in a frank and constructive manner. They agreed to maintain close dialogue on the issue and work together to safeguard peace and stability in the region.

Moreover, on 19 December 2025, H.E. Mr. Sihasak Phuangketkeow, Minister of Foreign Affairs, had a telephone conversation with the Honorable Marco Rubio, U.S. Secretary of State, regarding the Thailand - Cambodia border situation, as a follow-up to their prior phone conversation on 11 December 2025. 

Both sides discussed the latest developments in the Thailand - Cambodia border situation. The Foreign Minister reaffirmed Thailand’s position and shared information on the way forward, including participation in the Special ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Meeting on 22 December 2025 in Kuala Lumpur. The U.S. Secretary of State took note of the developments and expressed readiness to render support, as both sides will continue to stay in close dialogue in this regard.
