Thailand is on the path to becoming a leader in the future food industry, receiving support from the government and various organizations to develop research and innovation in alternative proteins and health foods. Ms. Sirinya Lim, Director of the Economic Innovation Policy Office at the National Science, Technology and Innovation Policy Office (NSTDA), emphasized the importance of responding to the aging population, ensuring food security, and advancing technology through the promotion of high-tech startups to pave the way for a sustainable future.
One key focus is the promotion of alternative proteins, such as plant-based proteins and insects, which are gaining popularity in the global market and have a high growth rate. This industry not only helps reduce greenhouse gas emissions but also creates trade opportunities for Thailand in exporting health foods, particularly to the European and Japanese markets. Additionally, the development of food innovations domestically supports farmers and the Thai industry to grow sustainably.
Driving the future food industry not only creates business opportunities but also enhances Thailand's image as a leader in sustainable and healthy food, promoting foreign investment and developing marketing strategies to reach consumers both domestically and internationally.
