Thai DPM Reaffirms Tourist Safety, Pledges Close Cooperation with China Following Embassy Advisory

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sihasak Phuangketkeow has responded to the Chinese Embassy in Thailand's recent travel advisory on fake job offers and kidnappings. He reaffirmed that the safety of all visitors remains a top priority for Thailand.

The Deputy said the vast majority of tourists continue to travel safely and enjoy their time in Thailand. He also stressed that the Government takes the issue seriously. Authorities are actively investigating and will bring those responsible to justice.

The Deputy Prime Minister explained that these scams are run by transnational criminal networks, not by Thai nationals alone, so international cooperation is essential to tackling the problem at its root. He encouraged travelers to stay vigilant. He also suggested that travel advisories be kept in proportion to the actual risk, so they keep travelers informed without causing unnecessary concern or affecting the close ties between the two countries.

Thailand is focusing on prevention by sharing more intelligence with Chinese authorities. To further strengthen visitor confidence, he has recommended that the Ministry of Tourism and Sports work closely with the Chinese Embassy. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is ready to give its full support.

Thailand values its long-standing friendship with China and remains committed to working together to address the root causes, so that every visitor can travel with peace of mind.
