TAT Pushes Satun as the Hub for Thailand-Malaysia Tourism

On May 2, 2026, Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) visited Tammalang Port to manage Satun Province’s tourism sector and improve transportation between Thailand and Malaysia. On this occasion, Satun’s government and private agencies highlighted details on port development, state of tourism industry, facilitation at immigration and customs checkpoints, as well as guidelines for promoting tourism routes connecting Langkawi and Koh Lipe Island.

Moreover, TAT discussed with Satun officials on strategies to improve tourism marketing for the ferry route between Tammalang Port and Perlis State of Malaysia, which is scheduled to open on May 15, 2026. Officials plan to turn the Khuan Don border into a travel hub (Andaman Gateway) to accommodate tourists from Malaysia, Indonesia, and Singapore to travel along provinces in the lower Andaman region.

TAT and Satun officials also aim to promote Halal Tourism and key tourist attractions such as the Satun Global Geopark—Prasat Hin Pun Yod, Dragon Spine Beach, as well as landmarks in Tarutao National Park. Officials are also developing new types of tourism activities such as Dark Sky Astrotourism and Thai-Malaysian caravan to generate income distribution and improve local economic growth.
