TAGTHAi to be Developed as National Tourism Hub

Deputy Prime Minister and Commerce Minister Suphajee Suthumpun has discussed developing TAGTHAi into a national tourism hub connecting travel information, attractions, products, services, and local businesses. The plan supports Thailand’s shift from measuring tourism primarily by visitor numbers toward generating greater economic value through increased spending, longer stays, and more income for local communities.

TAGTHAi could serve as a national integrated tourism service, consolidating information and services from government agencies and other sectors into a single system. Its data could also be used to analyze traveler behavior, giving authorities insights to improve tourism planning and policymaking while reducing duplication among existing digital services.

The system could connect travelers more directly with local commerce by featuring curated selections of community products, including Thai textiles and other high-quality local goods. Linking destinations with local cuisine, culture, handicrafts, products, and services would make community offerings easier to discover while opening additional sales and marketing channels for small businesses and local entrepreneurs.

The government will also consider linking TAGTHAi with the Thais Help Thais Plus program to further its reach. Plans include defining TAGTHAi’s role as an information resource and gateway to tourism-related transactions, with safeguards for personal data and user security.
